Supporting the Mariner Workforce: COVID-19 and Beyond
Please join the Maritime Administration in its “Campaign of Learning,” in conjunction with National Maritime Day as it hosts its third and final discussion panel with industry stakeholders as they engage in a discussion on challenges and solutions to better support the mariner workforce, including issues stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, mental health, and recruiting and retention issues within the industry. The event will be hosted by Acting Administrator, Lucinda Lessley, moderated by Dr. Shashi Kumar, Associate Administrator for Maritime Education and Training, and will include the following panelists:

• Sarah Hirsch, Director, Waterfront Campus, Orange Coast College
• Dr. Jason Zuidema, Executive Director at North American Maritime Ministry Association
• Bart Rogers, President, Assistant Vice President, Harry Lundeberg School of Seamanship,
Seafarers International Union
• Mr. Ira Douglas, Vice President Labor Relations, Crowley
